DNA-Encoded Genetic Markers
DNA SmartMark
A virtually impenetrable line of defense is provided by DNA, the ultimate identifier. Small sections of DNA called "oligomers" are assembled and encrypted in the laboratory by stringing together the As, Gs, Cs and Ts that comprise the alphabet of DNA.
Hundreds of trillion of versions of the oligomers are available, singularly or in combination. In addition, reverse engineering is further prevented by the inclusion of masking DNA in the marker and frequent changing of authentication sequences. DNA detection and authentication takes place in the laboratory, where it can be performed in a non-destructive manner - an important factor when the DNA is included in such things as an artists signature.
DNA testing of markers recovered from the field can serve as your assurance of total authentication of your product. Even more importantly, DNA testing has been used to resolve disputed or questionable cases; it is the only authentication method that's admissible as evidence today in courts of law.
